    VanCamp, Aloha A.

    Aloha A. VanCamp

    Associate Professor of Social Work, teaches social welfare policy and social research and has expertise in the areas of mental health and program evaluation. VanCamp holds a Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University, a Master of Social Work from Wayne State University and a doctorate in education, evaluation and research from Wayne State University. She is licensed master social worker in the State of Michigan and is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (Michigan) and the Michigan Association of Baccalaureate Social Work Educators. Previously, she served as president of the Michigan Society for Clinical Social Work and chair of the Detroit Mercy Social Work Department. She joined the University in 1989.

    Van Hook, Maureen

    Maureen Van Hook

    Assistant Clinical Professor, Division of Dental Hygiene, Director of Dental Hygiene Program,Hygiene Program, teaches Dental Hygiene Care, Oral Health Assessment, Periodontal Therapy I and II and Strategies for the Prevention of Oral Disease to dental hygiene students. She is also involved in teaching local anesthesia to dental hygiene students. Additional responsibilities include serving as Dental Hygiene program director. Her interests focus on educational methodologies. She has received a number of teaching awards. Van Hook holds a certificate and B.S degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Detroit and M.S. degree in Dental Hygiene from the University of Michigan. She joined the University in 2012.

    Vaughn-Deneen, Tanya M.

    Tanya M. Vaughn-Deneen

    McAuley School of Nursing, Dr. Vaughn-Deneen has been at Detroit Mercy since 2018 teaching in the graduate, undergraduate second degree option and the traditional nursing programs. Her primary areas of interest are perinatal depression, obstetrics and inclusive care for the LGBTQ population. She loves working with students at º£½ÇÂÛ̳ and helps them succeed in any way she can. Education of tomorrows nurses is her passion. 

    In addition to teaching, Dr. Vaughn-Deneen is a Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) birthing babies and caring for clients across the lifespan in a small office in southeast Michigan. She is an advocate for CNM’s in the operating room as first assistant’s for cesarean sections. She educates CNM’s at the national level by teaching a workshop entitled: The Midwife as Surgical First Assistant.

    Venugopal, Eswara P.

    Eswara P. Venugopal

    Associate Professor of Physics, teaches general physics courses and laboratories for engineering, life science and architecture students. He has published papers in theoretical atomic and particle physics. His recent research deals with chiral anomalies in photon-hadron interactions. He holds a M.Sc. (tech) degree in Computer Science from the Birla Institute of Technology & Science, India, a M.S. in Physics from Utah State University, and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He joined the University in 1998.

    Vernon, Alex

    Alex Vernon

    Director of the Immigration Law Clinic and Assistant Professor of Law, has practiced exclusively in immigration law. He directs the Immigration Law Clinic. Vernon holds a B.A. from University of Toronto and a J.D. from Ave Maria Law School. He joined Detroit Mercy Law in 2015.
